Race based stress is trauma that is associated with racial events that are unwelcome and painful. Right now, the trauma that we are suffering is rising along with the shared trauma our parents and grandparents about their experiences over the last 50 years living here. The cycle of race based trauma perpetuating time and time again, is scarring us time and time again.
Dr Gail Parker says “racial stress is a cumulative experience that is often magnified by the lack of opportunity to recover before the next experience, causing it to be chronic”
The answer is unity, connection, celebration, joy and collective healing.
